Hoda Al-Mufti’s choices are distinguished by the fact that she seeks to obtain a particular imprint in terms of the roles and genres of films and series in which she participates. Between light films and big business, Huda evolves with great flexibility. She has proven to be very successful in important roles such as Nabawiyya in Valentino and her role in the movie New Year and Girls Secondary.

In her interview with Al-Arabiya.net, Hoda spoke about her artistic and new works, her relationship with social media, how she is criticized and why her artistic endeavors are slowing down.

– At the beginning, tell us about your participation in the film Kira and the Jin?
The film “Kira Waljin”, written by writer Ahmed Murad, based on his 1919 novel, directed by Marwan Hamed, produced by the company “Synergy”, and starring Ahmed Ezz, Karim Abdel Aziz, Hend Sabry and many of stars. It’s a very important experience and I take part in a small role and I’m happy with this participation, I auditioned until I took on this role.

I also took part in the Supernatural series, so what are the details?
She took part in the series with a scene, which is the role of a psychiatric patient in a mental hospital.

I was very happy to participate. The series is very special and has been very successful, especially since it is different and unprecedented. It consists of 6 episodes and its events in each episode revolve around the famous myths of the “Supernatural” novels, which have been very successful throughout the series, and the series has presented the episodes separately so that each episode has one topic and one. at the same time the whole subject is linked to the same heroes, with different adventures in each episode.

– What inspired you to take up the work in metaphysics, and why do you think it is so distinctive as you say it is?
The “Beyond Nature” series is different and unprecedented. We have never presented a series like this before, on top of that it has been translated into over 32 languages ​​in 190 countries around the world. The dubbing was done for him in many languages ​​and reached 9 languages ​​including English, Spanish, French, Turkish and German, and all of this made him a different series besides presenting it. on a global platform.

– I recently participated in the El Gouna Festival and the Cairo Festival, what do you think of the two sessions and what is new? The El Gouna festival was wonderful and very special and it has many important films and stars. And there was a good attendance despite the circumstances of Corona, as well as the Cairo Festival, which defied all difficulties and presented a very successful session with many international guests, Arabs and Egyptians, in addition to international films and renowned Arabs. I was very pleased with the strong film broadcasts and the distinguished presence, and I liked many films, the first of which is “Gaza Monamur” which is a very special Palestinian film. What also struck me was that the festival was very organized and all of its details are precise and everything was brilliant and coordinated like the international festivals.

– One of your most recent films is the New Year’s movie. Despite your small role, you took the job, so why?
This film has a very particular impact on me, as I was eager to be part of it for many reasons, not least because it has big stars and a big cinematic history. Most of them wanted to work with them, like Sherine Reda, Iyad Nassar, Engy Al-Muqaddam, and everyone else. I also liked the story of the film and the audacity of the roles. For the first time, the idea of ​​celebrating the New Year was offered in different ways and to different social groups, and I was part of this film after going to auditions and then being selected for the role.

– Despite your small role in the New Year, but you have been criticized for your daring, so how did you see that? I expected the role to spark some controversy, so any daring act is always controversial, and I don’t mind at all, on the contrary, I like to see different reactions. This does not prevent me from being enthusiastic about accepting relatively daring roles if I like it and find it very strong, I am convinced that as an actress I have to offer all kinds of roles, so varied and different as they are, and many stars have featured roles that some considered in their time to be daring, but they have become one of the most important legacies of cinema, like star Nabila Obeid, who featured Rabaa Al-Adawiya and the dancer and the politician.

Some say that you are very careful in choosing your roles and that your steps are slow, so why? I don’t rush for roles and success and I like to choose carefully and differently, and yet I consider myself extremely lucky. I try to develop myself to reach roles that make a difference. Despite this, I admit that my steps are slow, but measured and lead me towards the success to which I aspire.

You use social media a lot, so what’s important to you?
Social media is very important and has become a style for almost everyone except the rare. I see social media as a way for people to get to know you on the way you want it delivered to them. They see what you want to see and are affected by it, and of course I consider them very important. So I try to use it properly by sharing with the audience some important ideas and issues such as the issue of harassment, children and refugees.

But there’s a lot of audience that goes beyond criticism on social media, so how do you deal with that? I receive positive and respectful reviews with affection, but when I feel overwhelmed and offended by the suspension of what I am doing (blocking) while the boundaries of decency are crossed.
