Few stars of world football have had the privilege of playing alongside the duo Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and one of those Brazilian internationals Arthur Melo.
Arthur spent two years alongside Messi in the Barcelona ranks (2018-2020), and had previously declared the Argentina ‘chip’ to be the greatest player in football history.
After joining Juventus last summer and playing alongside Ronaldo, Arthur retracted his previous statement, as the 24-year-old said in new statements highlighted by British newspaper “The Sun” that he preferred the star Portuguese to his Argentinian rival, and he also spoke about the differences between the two.
Arthur explained: “Cristiano Ronaldo speaks more than Messi and communicates with everyone in the locker room.”
“Ronaldo is very active in the locker room, he talks to everyone and has a good relationship with everyone,” he added.
He continued: “Everyone has their own way of showing leadership. Messi does it with actions on the pitch. He shows that when he receives the ball, with his will to win the game and all his colleagues notice it.”
Asked which player he prefers to play with between Messi (33) and Ronaldo (35), Arthur responded without diplomacy by saying: “I will choose Cristiano, we play together!”
He added: “I’m not that close to Cristiano, but we have a good relationship. Cristiano never backs down if there is a teammate who needs something and always deals with him with determination.”
“He (Ronaldo) trains like a beast, and he doesn’t know when to rest and encourages you to give everything you have … He always tells me what to eat and leaves nothing to chance.”
