Knightley says men watching her during filming piss her off
Actress Keira Knightley has said she will not appear in nude scenes in male directed films.
In a radio interview, Knightley said, “I don’t have an absolute ban (on nudity scenes), but I have (a ban) to some extent with men.”
“Partly it’s a matter of pride, in addition to the masculine gaze,” said the 35-year-old.
In recent years, the treatment of actors during the filming of sexual scenes has been highlighted, especially since the launch of the “MeToo” movement, which encourages the denunciation of sexual harassment.
Currently, many studios are hiring intimate scene coordinators to oversee these scenes and make sure the actors are comfortable and treated with respect while filming.
Knightley revealed earlier that she had stipulated in her contracts that her films did not include nudity scenes since becoming a mother in 2015.

“If the movie is about motherhood, that the body is something exceptional, how you suddenly start to look at your body in a different way and how it has changed in a way that you were not familiar with before you became mother, in this case I would certainly prefer to broach the subject with a woman because she understands it better. “.
“Now I feel very uncomfortable with the masculine gaze,” she says.
Knightley said she understands the need to film nudity scenes in some movies, but added, “I don’t want to participate in these horrible sex scenes while everyone is watching you. I’m not interested in that.”
