In an interview with Al-Arabiya, Al-Issa said that encouraging the concept of remote working, from outside the institution’s headquarters, is part of one of the national transformation initiatives of 2030, explaining that there are integrated programs to disseminate the culture of remote work, and the ministry has implemented many of them.

He estimated the number of remote work contracts in customer service trades at around 43,000 employment contracts, of which around half were in customer service trades, expressing hope that the move will help improve employment opportunities for Saudis in outlying cities and to provide opportunities for women.

He described the past year as an exceptional year and brought the Kingdom to advanced positions in the indicators of e-government and the digital business environment, which has boosted remote working capabilities during the pandemic period.

He highlighted the growing number of establishments that continue to work remotely, increase productivity and reduce costs, noting that these steps are contributing to an increase in remote work contracts.

He referred to the diversity of skills included in remote work services, explaining that the ministry found some institutions to be negligent by relying on Saudis in these professions, so the decision came to correct the situation in the market.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Engineer Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi issued a ministerial decision demanding that participatory electronic platforms limit direct transactions to Saudi workers only and do not deal with workers non-Saudi except by operating facilities.

The ministry said the decision is aimed at reducing illegal employment, creating a suitable and feasible working environment for Saudis in the field of participatory work in various activities and boosting investment by entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises. to cover needs in a systematic way. .

The ministry stressed that this decision is part of its efforts to regulate the labor market according to the evolution of the Kingdom at different levels, including modern work models, as work through electronic platforms participatory is one of the most important of these models.

The decision defines an online participatory platform as any application or website that acts as an intermediary to facilitate consumer access to services by sharing physical and human assets with individuals.

It should be noted that this decision will come into force 180 days after its publication on the ministry’s website and that the ministry will take all necessary measures to ensure that institutions adhere to the decision.
