The Turkish lira touched the level of 7 lira against the dollar for the first time since early August, today Monday, to continue an increase that began 3 months ago thanks to expectations of tightening monetary policy.
The currency hit 7.0085 pounds to the dollar at 7:04 a.m. GMT, bringing its gains since the start of this year to more than 6%.
He had previously hit the seven-pound level, his highest level since August 5, 2020.
The currency has risen by more than 20% since the appointment of a new central bank governor and finance minister in early November, raising expectations for more traditional policy adoption.
The bank has since raised interest rates by 17% to 10.25%.
