The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced today, Saturday, that it had intercepted a ballistic missile attack by the Houthi militia towards Riyadh.
The coalition revealed the surveillance of the “launch of a number of drones trapped by the Houthi terrorist militia”.
He pointed to the interception and destruction of an explosive drone launched by the militia towards Jizan, while a number of car bombs launched by the Houthis are being pursued.
The coalition later confirmed that it had “intercepted and destroyed a car bomb march launched by the Houthis towards Khamis Mushait”.
Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary Nayef Al-Hajraf condemned the Houthi targeting of Riyadh city with a ballistic attack and a number of drones in the direction of Khamis Mushait and Jizan.
Al-Hajraf said: “The continuation of these terrorist attacks by the Houthi group reflects its blatant disregard for the international community and its disregard for all international laws and norms.”
He urged “the international community to take an immediate and decisive position to put an end to these repeated actions which target vital and civilian installations and the security and stability of the Kingdom”.
On Friday evening, the coalition reported destroying a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia at Saudi Arabia.
The coalition said: “The Houthi militias attempted to target a civilian object in the southern region of Saudi Arabia.
The coalition asserted that it “is taking operational measures to protect civilians and civilian objects in accordance with international humanitarian law”.
The Houthi militia recently stepped up the use of explosives and reconnaissance drones, which the United Nations Committee of Experts said had been assembled from external components and shipped to Yemen. He also said that its specifications are identical to those of drones manufactured by Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Company.
A recent report published by the US magazine “Newsweek” made it clear that Iran apparently sent advanced drones to the Houthi militia in Yemen.
