You can sign up for Diablo 2: Alpha Revival now, but Blizzard hasn’t provided many details on what to expect from this first look at the game. But now the developers have assured us that there is. two alpha tests planned before launch. First, we’ll get the single player alpha, and then there will be a multiplayer target stress test.
Lead producer Chris Lena told us in an interview, “We’re going to start with a thousand one-player skills, and then we’ll have a second alpha, which is kind of a multiplayer stress test.” Both tests will of course be done before the Diablo 2: Resurrection release date later this year. “But that’s all we have for specific details,” Lina adds.
This alpha, of course, will begin to shape the future of the dead. Lena says the door is open for things like balance changes that will help keep the game alive for a modern society – if so, players are indicating they really want this to happen. Either way, this process begins in alpha.
You can register for the alpha on the official website.
With Diablo 4’s start date elsewhere (at the end), there’s a lot of good potential on the Diablo jury’s path. (And hey, looks like immortality can be good too.)
