The Secretary General of the Accounting Authority, Dr Ahmed Al-Maghamis, revealed the reasons for the increase in the number of accountants coming from abroad compared to the Saudis.
He explained, during his interview with the program “120” on the Al-Akhbariya channel, that the percentage of emiratization in the accounting offices reached 33%, indicating that the authority does not play a role related to the location of the profession in the private sector. sector, because it is not legally required to do so.
He pointed out that the total number of chartered accountants reached 170,000, including 30,000 Saudi accountants, referring to the increase in the number of expatriates to the strength of the Kingdom’s economy and the need of these large numbers over the course of some periods passed, due to the small number of graduates.
He mentioned that in the past there were only 7 universities that taught accounting, but now 27 universities study them in their different departments, which contributes to the graduation of 6000-7000 students per year, confirming that 450 false accountancy certificates were monitored, and those involved were referred to the prosecution.
