The Mecca Health Affairs Directorate reported that continuing to walk for half an hour a day has many health benefits, including:

Relieve anxiety and depression

Strengthen the bones.

Flexibility of the joints and strengthening of the muscles.

Prevention of chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure and diabetes.

Maintain a healthy weight and better physical shape.

Improved balance and blood circulation in the body.

Reduce the level of harmful cholesterol in the blood.

Burn excess calories in the body.

In this context, the Ministry of Health has posted on its website important tips for transforming normal walking into healthy walking that requires standing in an appropriate position and making certain significant movements as follows:

Raise your head looking forward, not down to the ground.

Relax the neck, shoulders and back and do not tilt them.

Free movement of the arms with a slight flexion of the elbows, knowing that the movement of the arms comes from the shoulder and not from the elbow.

– Tighten the abdominal muscles and make sure to straighten the back.

– Observe the flexibility of the knee movement and do not move the leg and thigh together.

Walk slowly, the heel of the foot touching the ground first, then the toes.

The Department of Health has issued important instructions to follow while walking, including:

– Choose suitable and supportive shoes with a durable heel and a thick elastic lining to absorb shock and not cause skin ulcers.

If you are going to work, you can wear regular work clothes and wear comfortable, brightly colored clothes when you go out of the house at night.

– Choose the right place: If you are walking outdoors, it is advisable to avoid rough roads with cracked sidewalks and potholes, and if the weather is not suitable for walking, it is advisable to recommended to go to places designated for walking such as markets.

If you are walking a long distance, it is recommended that you bring water, snacks, a change of clothes, sunscreen, and a hat to protect you from the sun.

Warming up: This means starting by walking slowly for five to ten minutes to warm up the muscles and prepare the body for the exercise.

Cooling down: This means stopping walking by slowing down for five to ten minutes, to soothe the muscles.

– Stretching exercises: you can do stretching exercises after warming up or cooling down.
