Wael El Qabbani, the former defense star of Zamalek, believes that the failure to stabilize Zamalek’s defense line and the imbalance between defense and attack are at the root of Al-Abyad’s defensive unrest during of recent times.
Zamalek has suffered in defense in recent times, which peaked in the Esperance game and the team’s reception of 3 goals.
El-Kabbani told FilGoal.com: “There is a constant focus in Zamalek on the score, and a lack of focus on the back line, which causes imbalance on the defensive end.”
He stressed: “There has to be a balance between defense and attack. This does not happen, and therefore flaws in the position of defenders during counter attacks.”
And he added: “We need to focus on improving defensive positioning when the ball is in Zamalek’s possession, to better cope with counter attacks.”
“The permanent change in the quadruple defense, as well as the constant change between the two defensive cores, affects the team,” Al-Kabbani added.
“If a central brace plays well, he should continue. Constant change causes problems. It has a big effect on defense,” he said.
