Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Turkey’s cooperation with Egypt in the fields of economics, diplomacy and intelligence is continuing, “and there is no problem.”
This came in a press statement made by Erdogan in Istanbul.
Earlier today, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Friday that Ankara had contacts with Egypt, whether through intelligence or foreign affairs.

He added: “We have started our contacts with Egypt at the diplomatic level”, according to what was quoted by the official “Anadolu” agency.
Cavusoglu stressed that Turkey and Egypt had presented no preconditions to restore normal relations between the two countries, in response to a question on the matter.
He added: “There is no precondition neither by the Egyptians nor by us now, but it is not easy to move around as if nothing happened overnight, in light of the interruption of relations for many years. “
He continued, “The normalization of relations is happening, but slowly, through discussions, developing a roadmap and taking action on these issues.”
In recent weeks, Ankara has stepped up its declarations of calm against Egypt.
Turkey is seeking to restore relations with Egypt after years of hostility, which analysts say is part of a broader strategic shift in the face of its growing isolation.
Al-Arabiya sources said arrangements had been made to hold the first Egyptian-Turkish meeting, which would include security officials, and that it would be the first Egyptian-Turkish meeting in Cairo.
The sources indicated that the Brotherhood’s dossier will be among the points of the meeting, which will deal with regional issues.
Phone calls were made between officials in Cairo and Ankara in the past few hours on Friday, and Ankara has requested a meeting of intelligence chiefs to discuss outstanding issues, while Egypt has stipulated for the resumption of negotiations that Ankara has put an end to its escalation in the Mediterranean, according to the sources.
