As anger continues in Jordan, following the tragedy that struck Al-Salt hospital, claiming the lives of 9 people with corona due to lack of oxygen, Jordanian monarch Abdullah II is pledged on Monday to hold the negligence accountable, according to Jordanian news agency “Petra”.

The Jordanian monarch has claimed he will hold accountable anyone who fails in their job and in protecting the lives of Jordanians, according to the results of the oxygen deficiency investigation of patients at the new Hussein Salt Hospital , stressing that “it is never acceptable to lose a citizen through negligence.”

While chairing a meeting of the National Policy Council on Monday, he said, “God have mercy on our people who lost them in Salt.”

The king also stressed the need for every official or employee, big or small, to have the same level of responsibility, otherwise let it give way to those who want to serve the country and the people.

Protests erupt

At the same time, several cities witnessed protests last night, according to what was cited by Agence France-Presse, according to eyewitnesses, despite government restrictions to tackle the Corona virus,

Hundreds of people gathered in the streets, defying the nighttime curfew in the northern town of Irbid, and several other towns, including Salt and a neighborhood in the capital, Amman.

Protesters also gathered in the southern town of Karak and the coastal town of Aqaba.

In addition, around 350 people demonstrated outside the Al-Husseini Mosque in central Amman last night to protest the Al-Salt incident and the nighttime curfew, which begins at seven in the evening until six in the morning local time.

Abdullah Awwad, 27, said: “We have come to make those responsible feel that if they make a mistake and are not held accountable, people will not remain silent.” “Likewise, to say that the partial night-time ban will affect young people who work for a daily wage and will make them lose their jobs and their livelihood,” he added.

According to photos and videos posted on social media, other Jordanian cities such as Jarash, Irbid and Zarqa have witnessed protests in which dozens of people took part, demanding accountability from those responsible for the Salt incident, at the same time calling for an end to the nighttime curfew. .

Oxygen deficiency scandal

It should be noted that the hospital oxygen shortage scandal yesterday prompted the Salt City Attorney General to arrest the Director of the Salt Hospital and four of his assistants for “causing death” , after the lack of oxygen resulted in the deaths of 9 people.

Oman Attorney General Hassan Al-Abdallat said on Saturday that “Al-Salt’s Attorney General has decided to arrest five officials from Al-Salt Hospital and charge them with charges of having caused death in association with them, repeated seven times “. among them the director.

He also explained that “the prosecutor decided to detain them for a week in one of the correction and reintegration centers”, noting that “the investigation is still ongoing and ongoing to determine who will prove the responsibility of this crime”.

This tragedy led to the dismissal of the Minister of Health, the termination of the services of the director of the government hospital in Salt and the suspension of the work of the director of health in the governorate of Balqa, where the Salt hospital is located.

Meanwhile, Jordanian Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh described what happened as a “serious, unwarranted and unacceptable fatal error”, apologizing for the “failure”.
