The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced the destruction of two boat bombs belonging to the Houthi militia, before launching an imminent attack from Hodeidah.

The coalition felt that the militia is using the Stockholm Agreement as an umbrella to launch hostile attacks from Hodeidah governorate, threatening maritime shipping routes and global commerce.

Previously, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced that it had intercepted and destroyed two marches that had been launched towards the southern region of Saudi Arabia.

Politically, US envoy to Yemen Tim Lenderking embarked on a third Gulf tour less than two months after his appointment.

According to sources from Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the Saudi initiative is at the forefront of discussions of this round which began in Muscat and will witness multiple meetings with the Yemeni government in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and UN Secretary General’s Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths discussed prospects for peace in Yemen.

The meeting, which took place in the Omani capital, Muscat, discussed developments in Yemen and efforts to end the war and relaunch the political process, through negotiations between all parties, to achieve security and stability in Yemen and the region.

“I had a constructive discussion in Muscat today with the Omani foreign minister on the prospects for peace in Yemen,” Griffiths said. He added: “I thanked the Foreign Minister of Oman for supporting the United Nations efforts to bring peace to Yemen through an inclusive political process.”

Griffiths had resumed his contacts and meetings with the leaders of the Houthi militia after a hiatus of several months.

The UN envoy’s office said in a statement on Friday evening that the UN secretary-general’s special envoy is currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman.
