Today, Thursday, the European Union begins processing the vaccine passport, which is a digital certificate for people vaccinated against the Corona virus, but this certificate does not approve doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine produced in India, according to the newspaper. American “Washington Poster”.
The vaccination passport is intended to facilitate unrestricted travel across the European continent for vaccinated travelers, but there is widespread confusion over how to start operating and the credits associated with the digital certificate.
Many travelers, especially from poor countries, do not meet the criteria for the vaccination certificate program because they have received doses of AstraZeneca produced in India, which have not been approved by the European Union.
It is reported that the World Health Organization has approved the use of vaccines produced in India, which is a major supplier of the global Kovacs initiative, which aims to distribute vaccines equitably among countries.
Only four vaccines produced in the West are eligible under European law and have been approved: those produced by Moderna, Pfizer Biontech, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca, made in Europe.
The AstraZeneca vaccine, made in India and has not been approved by the European Medicines Agency, the European Union’s medical regulatory body, is not on the list.
The CEO of the Indian company, AstraZeneca, said on Monday that he was working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and that his company had applied for a license from the European Medicines Agency.
I realize that a lot of Indians who have taken COVISHIELD are facing travel issues in the EU, I assure everyone, I have taken this to the highest level and hope to resolve this issue soon, both with regulators and at the diplomatic level with countries.
