This happened during the meeting of the twenty-fourth session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information, which was held on Thursday by video conference, chaired by Dr Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Technology. information, and organized by the Technical Council Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information via videoconferencing technology.

It should be noted that the Arab Digital Capital initiative was launched with the aim of creating a stimulating environment for investment in the ICT sector by highlighting the technical value of the city hosting the events of the Arab Digital Capital event and by developing its key role in enabling technology. and intellectual creativity.

In his speech at the meeting chaired by Egypt, Talaat underscored the continued unification efforts to achieve a digital Arab society in light of the technological and information revolution that the world is witnessing. Noting that the pandemic conditions have proved that the communications and information technology sector is the active component and the driving tool for all other sectors, and that it has also become a key factor in increasing the efficiency of these sectors and improve their performance, and has become one of the main resources for the sustainable development of our Arab world at all social, economic, cultural and political levels.

Talaat underlined Egypt’s willingness to play its role as one of the Arab countries that host a large number of international cables, while continuing to develop a distinguished international infrastructure by adding more stations to fifteen international cables passing by Egypt. Calling for the creation of an international network linking the Arab countries among themselves; He explained that in order to implement this initiative, the Arab Republic of Egypt is ready to provide 10 gigabits / second on all submarine cables owned by Telecom Egypt to connect the Arab Republic of Egypt to the participating Arab countries. to these cables, to be the core of a unique and distinctive Arab communication network.
