The board of directors of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality has approved the technical regulations for imported used vehicles.
This regulation aims to specify the basic requirements that used vehicles imported into the Kingdom must meet under this technical regulation, in order to ensure their compliance with the requirements of Saudi regulations and standards approved in the Kingdom, and ensure safety conditions to preserve the environment and the health and safety of consumers and road users.
According to the articles of the regulation published in the Official Gazette in its edition of yesterday (Friday), it is prohibited to import armored vehicles, except for military or security purposes, and vehicles with engines modified from gas to gas. diesel gas.
It is prohibited to import used vehicles stipulated in the decisions and circulars issued by the authorities concerned, including: damaged vehicles which have been exposed to accidents of drowning, fire, collision, overturn, or the like, and any which is stamped on its form with the phrase “SALVAGE” or its equivalent phrases (Scrap – Junk – Unrebuildable – Frame Damage – Structural Damage – Unibody Damage – Crash Test).
It is also prohibited to import vehicles that have been used for taxis or police vehicles, bearing logos related to school transport or the like, or right-hand drive or modified right-to-left drive vehicles, or whose number chassis has been altered, canceled or falsified.
