The organization said; Based in Geneva: “It is expected that (the delta mutant) will quickly replace the other mutant, becoming the dominant (corona) strain most transmitted in the coming months.”

Delta has become the cause of more than 75% of new infections in a large number of countries, including India, China, Russia, Indonesia, Australia, Bangladesh, Britain, Africa from the South, Portugal and Israel.

It is not yet known, according to the organization, the “exact mechanism” that makes this mutant more transmissible compared to other strains.

And she warned that “at this rate, the cumulative number of cases reported since the start of the epidemic worldwide is expected to exceed two hundred million in the next three weeks.”

She justified this path by four factors; It is the emergence of more contagious strains, lax public health measures, a stronger social mix, and the fact that many people have not yet been vaccinated.

And, over the past week, the number of new cases has increased by 30% in the Western Pacific and 21% in Europe, according to the organization.
