Kuwaiti goalkeeper Sattam Al-Husseini dies aged 37

Kuwaiti football was devastated yesterday on Friday by news of the death of Kuwaiti Salmiya Club goalkeeper Sattam Al-Husseini at the age of 37.

According to the “kooora” website, Al-Husseini died of a heart attack he suffered while spending his summer vacation outside Kuwait.

The Kuwait Football Association mourned Al-Husseini and said in a tweet posted on his account on the “Twitter” website: “The chairman of the board of the Kuwait Football Association, Sheikh Ahmed Al- Yousef Al-Sabah, the members of the Board of Directors and all the employees of the Federation, extend their sincere condolences and sympathy to the sports family and the Al-Husseini family Honorable mention of the death of the guardian of the Salmiya Club, Sattam Al Husseini may God have mercy on him

For his part, Kuwaiti football legend and dean of world players (185 international matches), Badr Al-Mutawa, mourned Al-Husseini in a tweet in which he said: “We belong to God and to Him we will return, and there is no strength or power except through God. And forgive him, O Lord, and dwell in his vast gardens.

Al-Hussaini, who started his career with club Al-Jahra before joining club Al-Salmiya, was one of the most prominent goalkeepers in the Kuwait League in recent years. He also had a short professional experience with Portuguese club Boavista.
