61 charities from various countries of the Arab world topped “Forbes” list The Middle East for this year (the most transparent charities in the Arab world), for the second time in a row, and the total revenues of charities participating in the list amounted to $ 564.4 million, while total spending for charitable projects amounted to $ 428.8 million.
This year’s results came with a slight increase over last year in the number of participating charities, as the geographic breakdown analysis showed, as Saudi Arabia topped the list with the participation of 19 charities, followed by Palestine in second place. with the participation of 13 charities, so that Jordan would be in third place, tied with the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of 6 associations for each country, while Lebanon moved to 4th place with the presence of 5 charities, then Kuwait, which was able to acquire the first and second places on the list, and Sudan shared the sixth place with the Kingdom of Bahrain with the presence of two charitable companies for each, and finally Tunisia and Egypt placed seventh thanks to the participation of one association each.
It should be noted that Egypt and Sudan are among the countries participating for the first time in the list.
Forbes editor-in-chief Kholoud Al-Omyan said: Middle East "Even though the growth rate is very low, I still think we are on the right track towards more transparency, and spreading the culture of financial disclosure in this sensitive area.
Al-Amyan added, “This year’s list is qualitatively par excellence, as a new group of charities that work within a professional institutional framework and at a high level of organization have joined us, in addition to some of between them having diplomatic status in many countries in order to facilitate the work of these associations that the charitable organizations with big budgets operate in the world in full transparency.
Forbes magazine will The Middle East will unveil the list tomorrow, July 23, 2012, at a Ramadan evening attended by a number of officials and representatives of Arab charities.
