The Guinean Ministry of Health has announced that it has recorded a possible infection with the Marburg virus, a dangerous hemorrhagic fever virus, with a high death rate.
The ministry said the possible case had been confirmed in two laboratories in the country, and the authorities decided to send samples to Senegal to confirm the infection.
Health authorities have ordered the examination of all people who have been in contact with the possible patient, and to strengthen control in the area in which the suspected case was discovered.
It should be noted that the Marburg virus causes hemorrhagic fever, which causes a high rate of death, and there is no specific drug for this virus. The virus is carried by bats of the Rousettus aegypti type, and the virus can be transmitted from animals to humans to later spread between people.
The incubation period of the virus varies from two to 21 days. Among the first symptoms of the disease are high temperature, severe headache, muscle pain and others. After 8 or 9 days of infection with the virus, the patient suffers from hemorrhage and shock.
