The new study, published by researchers in the Journal of Planetary Sciences, takes a closer look at this approximately 200-kilometer-long asteroid in preparation for the space mission.
The study found that the amount of heat radiated by the asteroid is 60% less than previously thought, which means the asteroid suffers from thermal inertia.
The thermal emission there is affected by the presence of minerals on the surface of the orb, so scientists believe that minerals make up at least 30% of the surface.
The thermal emission analysis made it possible to know approximately the shape that the metal takes there, especially on the surface, which appeared smooth and solid.
