According to the Associated Press, the Cygnus spacecraft has been launched from Virginia to the International Space Station and is expected to arrive Thursday.
The spacecraft was loaded with a cargo of 3,700 kilograms, including fresh apples, tomatoes and kiwis, as well as pizza and cheese, to present to seven astronauts.
The expedition is not limited to these foods, but also carries supports to stabilize the solar wings, which will be launched in the orbital laboratory, next year.
The object that will be launched simulates the dust and dirt of the moon, so it will be used to create elements from the 3D printer of the International Space Station.
The spacecraft also carried what is called a “colloidal mold” for a French educational experiment called “Blob”, in addition to an infrared monitoring device that will serve as a prototype for satellite monitoring in the future.
This expedition marks the 16th time that North Rob Grumman has undertaken a mission for the US space agency, NASA.
Based on available data, the payload is the heaviest in the history of what the company has shipped to date.
The company’s “Antares” rocket carried the cargo capsule from the facility of US space agency “NASA” on Tuesday.
There are currently seven astronauts aboard the International Space Station, and they are three Americans, two Russians, one French and one Japanese.
