Saudi Arabia evacuates members of its diplomatic mission in Kabul

In view of the current and unstable conditions of the republic, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia evacuated members of its diplomatic mission in Afghanistan on Sunday.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry confirmed that all members of the Kingdom’s embassy in the Afghan capital, Kabul, had been evacuated.

He also announced the safe arrival of all members of the mission in their country of origin.

Taliban in Kabul

The kingdom’s move came in the wake of recent developments there, particularly after the Taliban movement entered the capital, Kabul, and officially resumed administration within hours, after the security forces fled.

The movement also ordered its fighters to enter Kabul under the pretext of “preventing looting”, confirming the safety of the police stations, Kabul University and the Ministry of Education, after the security centers had been emptied of their members.

In addition, the Afghan president left the country, accompanied by the national security adviser, by helicopter, Sunday noon, and a senior Afghan interior official confirmed the authenticity of the news, while the Afghan presidency stressed that Ghani’s whereabouts could not be disclosed for security reasons.
