According to a presidential statement, King Salman offered President Tebboune his sincere condolences to the Algerian people and to the civilian and military families of the victims of the recent fires.
The Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques also affirmed the leadership of the Kingdom and the solidarity of the people with Algeria to overcome this difficult circumstance.
Urgent humanitarian aid
On the other hand, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, in a statement, its deep sadness and sorrow at the accidental fires of which Algeria was a victim and the human and material losses they caused.
In light of the ties that unite the two countries and peoples, he also announced the directive of the Servant of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to stand alongside Algeria in its efforts to combat the fires, which helps to mitigate the resulting effects.
The statement revealed that the King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center will send emergency humanitarian aid to provide relief to those affected and afflicted.
71 dead to date
It should be noted that at least 71 people have died since last Monday, in large fires triggered by intense heat in the forests of Algeria, according to the latest report issued by the authorities.
Algeria is the largest country in Africa and contains 4.1 million hectares of forests, with a reforestation rate of 1.76%.
