Legal adviser Aseel Al-Juaid said that no government or private entity can prevent a woman who does not wear the abaya, as long as she is dressed modestly.
Al-Juaid indicated that a woman’s modesty according to the public taste regulations is to wear an abaya or something else so that she can wear clothes other than the abaya provided she is modest, noting that the modesty was not defined by the regulations and was left to the community, its customs and traditions.
He added in an interview with the channel:mbc“A man’s modesty is not to wear pajamas in public places, which indicates that swimming shorts are not appropriate in public places and that regular shorts for parks and camps are acceptable.
He noted that the regulation of public taste applies to everyone, whether citizens, residents or tourists, without any form of discrimination, indicating that the confusion surrounding it is related to the legal aspect.
