Sony has released a revised model of its PlayStation 5 console, with Press Start, an Australia-based gaming website, reporting that the revised models include a new screw for the base bracket that no longer requires a screwdriver.
The Japanese company reportedly replaced a new base screw with a handle on the top so it could be easily inserted, removed, and manually adjusted..
Press Start also notes that the digital edition models on this updated platform are around 300g lighter than the original. But it is not known what the Japanese company removed or modified to reduce the weight.
Newer platform models are shipped with the model number CFI-1102A, instead of the original CFI-1000. The company has yet to confirm the exact changes to this new model number.
There is nothing on this form mentioned online. But the site was able to assure the buyer that this new model includes the new screw which can be adjusted manually (and does not require a screwdriver).
These appear to be the first new models to arrive anywhere in the world. Australia is clearly one of the first countries to review the revised PS5 model, having been spotted in a Japanese guide last month.
And while the company has eliminated the need for a screwdriver for the recommended base rack, you still need it to access the optional detachable M.2 cross-platform SSD.

Sony plans to introduce removable SSD storage with an upcoming software update. It recently announced the availability and compatibility with third-party SSDs.
The update, currently available for beta testers, also includes improvements to the PS5 dashboard user interface.
It also includes 3D audio support for the TV’s built-in speakers and a better way to differentiate between the PS4 and PS5 versions of the games.
It should be noted that the platform is still suffering from a shortage. A quick glance at eBay auctions shows that the new PS5 consoles sell for between $ 700 and $ 900. That’s more than the original price of $ 400 and $ 500, depending on the version.
