The Ennahda movement has announced its rejection of the decision of Tunisian President Kais Saied to extend the freeze on the work and powers of Parliament and to withdraw the immunity of its members for an indefinite period, arguing that this measure “adds to the uncertainty that surrounds the future of the country “.

Saeed announced on Tuesday a presidential decree extending until further notice the exceptional measures taken under Presidential Decree No. 80 of 2021 relating to the suspension of the powers of Parliament and the lifting of parliamentary immunity of all his members.

Saied said during his meeting with Minister of Trade and Export Development Mohamed Boussaid that the decision he made was “caused by the imminent danger”, adding that “the parliament itself is a danger to state, and voting takes place there in consultation with lobbies and pressure centers.

For its part, the Ennahda movement attacked the extension stage, and estimated in a statement Tuesday evening that the suspension of the powers of parliament and the lifting of the immunity of parliamentarians, is “a serious violation of the constitution and a flagrant violation of the requirements of Chapter 80. thereof in the stipulation that Parliament should remain in permanent session.

She added that the presidential extension decree “cancels the control of Parliament, which gives the constitution to its president or 30 of its members the right to demand the end of exceptional procedures”, calling for “the resumption of the track paralyzed democracy and a rapid return to the normal functioning of the workings of the state, and the adoption of dialogue as the only means of solving various problems. “

However, the president, responding to calls for a national dialogue to resolve the political crisis, called for “a national dialogue with whom? “, Stressing that” there is no turning back, and a day will come when all the facts and names will be revealed to the people.
