These American soldiers were not spared by the explosion that rocked the Kabul airport on Thursday, claimed by ISIS, killing dozens of civilians, in addition to the deaths of 13 American soldiers.
And on Saturday, the US Department of Defense announced the names of the 13 soldiers who died, and they were found to include 23-year-old female soldier Nicole J and a member of the US Marines.
Nicole had said a week before her death that she “loved her job” in a post on her Instagram page.
Nicole was a maintenance worker in a Marine Brigade and is from California, United States. She is married to a young American who also works in the Marines. She was tasked with assisting women and girls at Kabul airport during the evacuation process.
The last photo Nicole posted on Sunday showed her looking at a long line of evacuees from Afghanistan.
