The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) has announced that the number of Arab countries interested in investing in hydrogen production projects has increased to seven, including United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Saudi Arabia , Iraq, Egypt, Oman and Morocco.
According to a report published by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) and prepared by the expert of gas industries at the Department of Technical Affairs, Engineer Wael Hamed Abdel Muti, on developments in liquefied natural gas and hydrogen, the second quarter of 2021 was marked by remarkable activity on the part of Arab countries to strengthen cooperation and international partnership in the field of hydrogen and the pursuit of megaprojects.
The report says that in light of these rapid developments, the number of planned hydrogen production and use projects in Arab countries has risen to 20, the majority of which were for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia. green with a total of 12 projects, while 6 projects were allocated for the production of blue hydrogen and blue ammonia, and 2 projects for the use of hydrogen as fuel in fuel cell vehicles.
