A long artistic journey that began in the fifties of the last century was interrupted by a strict decision, after the Egyptian artist, Laila Taher, announced her retirement from art.
The Egyptian artist explained in a telephone interview with Khairy Ramadan media on Tuesday evening that since taking part in the “Al-Bab Fi Al-Bab” series 7 years ago, she has found that the works presented to him does not suit him.

Therefore, she decided to go into hiding and retire from art after a very long, tender journey, stressing that there is no longer any need to submit works just to be present, content with its long history.
The Egyptian artist has indicated that she respects her work and respects her audience, considering that the decision will not be overturned, especially since she has been absent for many years, so she is struggling to come back after all these years.

Regarding her current life, she emphasized that she has become a family life dedicated to her family and friends, having been deprived of it for many years due to her concern for art.
However, from time to time, she keeps track of the works on display and finds that the current situation with regard to the art and the works on display is very different from what was happening in their time.
There are works that make her happy after following them, as she feels heartache and sadness when she sees other works that are on display right now, but she refused to name them.
The beginnings of Laila Taher
Laila Taher, holder of a bachelor’s degree in social work, started her career as a television host through the program “TV Magazine”. She also presented a number of other programs, but then decided to turn to the theater and excelled in many roles.
Among the most important cinematographic works in which she has participated are the films “A Cat on Fire”, “Soft Hands” and “Cairo at night”. She has also appeared in series including “The Halawani Gate”, “Fawazeer Amo Fouad” and “The Family of Professor Shalash”.
