A US court has convicted US real estate mogul and millionaire Robert Durst for the murder of his best friend, Susan Berman.
Durst was convicted of the crime in 2000 for preventing Susan from speaking to police about the details of his wife’s disappearance.
Susan, 55, was found shot in the head in her Beverly Hills home.
And the HBO TV station had prepared a documentary about Durst called “Jinks”, in the last clip, Durst seemed to be talking to himself, saying, “What did you do, you killed them all, of course. “
Hours before the last part of the film aired, police arrested Durst on charges of killing Susan, and juries showed the last part of the film “Jinx” during the trial.
Prosecutors described Durst, 77, as a “psychopath and narcissist” and appeared to spend the rest of his life in prison.
Susan was a writer and spokesperson for Dorset while under suspicion, due to his wife’s disappearance.
At a previous hearing, Durst’s lawyer objected to the release of clips from the 2010 film “All Good Things,” which was directed by the same director as “Jinx” and quotes Durst’s life. , as a killer.
Durst’s wife, Kathleen McCormack, who was studying medicine, disappeared in 1982 and was later considered dead.
After Durst’s conviction, McCormack’s family released a statement calling on the New York Attorney General to prosecute Durst in the case of Kathleen’s disappearance.
“The justice system in Los Angeles has finally delivered justice to the Berman family, and it is time for Westchester County to do the same for the McCormack family,” the statement said.
Some prosecutors claim that Durst actually killed three people, the third being his elderly neighbor, Maurice Black, who discovered Durst’s identity while on the run in Texas in 2001.
But Durst was acquitted of the charge, on the grounds that he had to kill him in self-defense, before dismembering the body.
Durst is from one of the richest and oldest real estate families in New York City, and his brother Douglas Durst, when he testified in court about his brother, said he “wanted to kill me” .
Dorset’s sentencing is scheduled for the 18th of next month.
