For over a year, we’ve been eagerly awaiting Google’s development of its first foldable Pixel phone, dubbed “Passport”. Through details of the upcoming Android 12.1, we’ve learned that Google has another collapsible pixel called “Jumbojack”.
Last year, we unveiled Google’s first real proof that it has a foldable device in action. In development under the code name “Passport”, this device is designed, at least simultaneously, for release in “Fourth Quarter 2021”. At this time, the details on the device became more realistic, with slight guessing Until creases appear on it, build Android 12 Beta.
According to a source familiar with Android development, the next mid-cycle release includes what we collectively call “Android 12.1 ″ details on a second bendable pixel. This second device is codenamed “Jumbojack”. We were able to verify Jumbojack in the documents he saw earlier. 9to5Google.
There are many instances where Jumbojack was used as a test device because at the time it was and still is Android 12. For example, Google used it to test adding “static” to APIs. Android. When the position is pivot, pivot exchanges such as “open”, “closed”, “half open” and “inverted”. A reasonable explanation is that the Jumbojack is only an internal testing device, yet Google explicitly calls it a “pixel”.
Apparently, Jumbojack will also include two widths, and when that pixel is folded, the second width will not be available. It features a Galaxy Fold style design, with a larger internal screen and a smaller external screen.
An interesting aspect of Jumbojack is that it apparently includes improvements in Android 12 that won’t appear on other folders until Android 12.1. Specifically, the second foldable pixel treats the split screen in a new way, apparently similar to the work Samsung has done with it. With these features included forward As of Android 12.1 you can talk to this foldable Pixel which will arrive before mid-cycle, we haven’t seen any signs of Jumbojack appear in regular Pixel apps yet.
As for the code name “JumboJack” itself, it seems to be a reference to the Jumbo Jack Jumbo Jack from Jack Box. It’s not clear if this cheeseburger’s origins are any hint of its collapsible design. “Hamburger style” like the Galaxy Z Flip rather than a “hot dog style” like the Galaxy Z Fold.
At the moment, we have no other clues regarding this specific bendable pixel, such as the chip used or the size of the screens. Likewise, we don’t know how Jumbojack will handle the fix for the second foldable Pixel, whether the two devices will release side-by-side or separately within a year, or if both will launch at all. We will continue to look forward to more testimonials about Jumbojack over the next few months.
