The temperature in Iraq this year has reached 52 degrees Celsius, and power outages have resulted in the suspension of air conditioning, fans and water coolers, and the country has fallen into total darkness at night, and some Iraqis have sometimes resorted to dangerous solutions to save themselves. , as did an employee in the town of Hilla who had to put her baby in the refrigerator for a while to protect it from the heat, while another in Diwaniyah searched for chunks of ice to secure the cold water for his children, another in Basra put his children to sleep on the floor looking for cold, and another sprayed his children from the public water tap.
It is linked, like everything else in Iraq, to ​​the organized corruption of the political elite, which has led to the theft of hundreds of billions of dollars, and this has resulted in the failure of the Electricity Ministry to renew its units, which means the loss of 40% of production, while the Ministry of Petroleum has not been able to invest the accompanying gas for extraction operations to convert it into fuel, and Iran has stopped exporting gas to Iraq, and only a few Iraqis pay electricity bills, and abuse, especially by officials and militiamen. In addition, the power transmission grid has come under repeated attacks, and while the official propaganda, as usual, is directed against ISIS, many Iraqis blame the parties and people who are trying to make money from rebuilding damaged sites and selling generators, and when citizens staged protests and protests, authorities confronted them with repression, and the result is that Iraq witnesses a complete collapse of the electrical system.
Syria is also going through, according to the regime’s Minister of Electricity, a worse phase in terms of availability of petroleum derivatives, which has led to an increase in the hours of electricity rationing. energy is a major problem in itself, and in addition to plunging people into darkness, it reduces their ability to rely on sources of electricity. Alternatively, electric generators, in turn, need materials such as diesel and gasoline to run them. As the state relinquished its responsibilities, residents resorted to huge generators run by investors, and some families pay around $ 70 a month to get four hours a day, an amount that is beyond the capabilities of a Syrian citizen.

In short, the colossal failure of the modern Arab national state, which politicians spoke of leading their countries to enlightenment, modernity and progress, has led to undeniably total and real darkness.
