Samir Nasri announces his retirement from football

Samir Nasri, a former French midfielder, announced today, Sunday, his official retirement from professional football, ending his career with the game he started in 2004.

Nasri, 34, received an 18-month suspension for doping and drug-related offenses, and said the case changed his outlook on football.

“It was (the steroids) just an injection of vitamins because I was sick,” said Nasri, who previously played for Olympique Marseille, Arsenal and Manchester City, in comments quoted by “Le Sunday Newspaper “.

The French newspaper L’Equipe today highlighted Nasri’s statement, during a press interview, in which he announced the suspension of his shoes.

Nasri’s career effectively ended last year after playing for a short time with Anderlecht in Belgium.

Nasri, of Algerian origin, participated in 41 international matches with the France team between 2007 and 2013, in which he scored five goals.
