Amazon unveils its first domestic robot … that’s what it does!

The $ 1,000 Astro robot moves around your home on three wheels and can be used to move objects from room to room, video chat, listen to music, and monitor your home.

Amazon will ask people to sign up and then invite them to order the bot, as it won’t sell it to everyone like it does on its ecommerce site along with the rest of the merchandise, as this allows Amazon to avoid to create a lot of tools it won’t sell and general confusion like the Amazon Fire phone that shut down in 2015.

Amazon said Astro will go on sale later this year, but did not give a specific launch date.

Why robots?
