Google announced new search tools for shopping, with features that use Google Lens to find products to buy from photos online, broader search terms to help you browse clothes, and the ability to check out the inventory in store from your home.
She says the new tools help shoppers find what they’re looking for in more meaningful ways. It comes after the company allowed all businesses to create free ads through Google Shopping last year. And now she wants to do more window shopping right from her research.
Google Lens has been around since 2017, replacing the Google Goggles that came before it, with the ability to use a smartphone camera to perform visual searches based on identifying objects in the real world.
These image searches allowed users to learn more about the things around them, and even find the same or similar item to purchase without looking for a sticker or barcode to scan.
And the company now wants to allow you to buy any product you see in a photo or video on the web with nothing more than the photo itself.
IOS users will soon receive a new dedicated button in the Google app, allowing Google Lens to search for any image on the page to display Google shopping lists to buy with visual match. The feature is also available through the Google Chrome browser for computers.
The company did not specify a specific date for the launch of the feature on iOS or the desktop, indicating that it hopes to roll it out by the end of the year.
There was no initial mention of if or when this feature might come to Android. But the company has made it clear that it plans to extend this feature to Android at a later date, after the iOS and desktop versions.

Another upcoming shopping-focused feature, driven by the boom in e-commerce since the start of the pandemic, is the ease of browsing clothing, accessories, and footwear in search results based on generic terms.
The company says that if you search for jackets through a mobile, for example, you see a visual flow of this type of clothing in a variety of colors and designs.
These visual results are accompanied by relevant videos, style guides or local stores with these styles. You can filter your search by brand, style or department and check ratings and reviews or compare prices between results.
Google calls it window shopping, which is one of the challenges of shopping for clothes online. It’s compared to going to a physical store to see what’s on offer.
He claims that the dataset has been pulled from over 24 billion product listings. The new functionality is available via mobile phone and can be used directly from Google search.
The third update of Google Shopping allows users to check store inventory remotely directly through Google search.
Buyers looking for a product can filter by “Available”. This selection should display nearby stores that contain the available item.
The company says the new feature can help small businesses attract new customers. Google said it was relying on the retailer’s data to determine inventory status. She says this indicates an item is in stock when the confidence is high.
