Houthi militias rejected the UN proposals to withdraw from Hodeidah, their port and hand over his administration to the United Nations, while the putschists proposed that Hodeidah and its representatives are jointly directed with the United Nations.
UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith, briefed the Security Council behind closed doors on the results of his talks in Sanaa and Aden the day after his return from the Yemeni capital.
The Security Council called on all parties to engage constructively in United Nations efforts to advance a political solution in Yemen, demanding that the port of Hodeidah remain open. Informed sources revealed that Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Supreme Council of the Opposition, asked the envoy of the UN to give the militia some time to respond to his plan to spare the Hodeidah clash.
The sources estimated that the militia leaders were only trying to gain time, while continuing to send more reinforcements to Hodeidah.
