President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi promulgated Decree No. 334 of 2018 amnesty for the rest of the sentence imposed on some convicts on the occasion of the celebration of the sixty-sixth day of the July 23 revolution.
The decision was published in the Official Journal.
The prison sector continued to hold committees to review the records of the Republic-level detainees in order to determine the eligibility for presidential amnesty and the release of the police from the rest of the sentence to some people sentenced to imprisonment.
The Office of the High Commissioner for Prison Sector Amnesty concluded that presidential amnesties applied to 394 prisoners in prisons and the release of 642 others by the police, bringing the total number of prisoners detained at 1,036.
This fits within the framework of the application of punitive policy in its modern sense, providing various aspects of the care of guests, and by activating methods of release of convicts who have been rehabilitated to become involved in society.
