Former US presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, has announced his intention to run in the upcoming 2020 election, provided he is the "best candidate" to beat Republican Donald Trump.
"If a second person seems to be able, for one reason or another, to do a better job than me, then I will do my utmost to be elected," said the 77-year-old independent senator in New York Magazines.
"If it turns out that I'm the best candidate to win Donald Trump, I'll probably be a candidate for the presidency," he said.
Trump had confirmed in mid-October that he would be running for a second four-year term in 2020, dispelling any speculation as to his intentions.
"Yes, one hundred percent," Bush told Fox Business at the time.
