Morocco will get the rights to host the African Nations Cup 2018 after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to withdraw the tournament in Cameroon for not having completed the continental tournament.
Abdel Ghani told FilGoal.com that the continent's confederations were compatible with granting rights to the organization of the Moroccan state, all the more so as it is able to to organize the tournament with the number of its 24 teams after the decision to increase the number of participants in the 2019 version.
Al-Jablaya pointed out that it was difficult for Egypt to submit an official request for the organization of the continental championship over the coming period, given the consensus on its allocation to Morocco.
Abdel Ghani pointed out that Egypt could apply to host future editions, but that the 2019 version would be 100% Moroccan.
Several reports said that the AU Executive Committee meeting Friday in Accra will see a formal decision to withdraw the Cameroonian organization.
Several press reports indicated that South Africa and Morocco were very interested in organizing this African event, although the latter is the closest to doing so.
The withdrawal of the Cameroon organization comes in the absence of finalization of the construction of several stadiums to host the tournament, which has become the number of teams to 24, in addition to a degradation of infrastructure and security conditions.
