World AIDS Day: the problem is more serious in Libya

On December 1, we celebrate International AIDS Day. On this occasion, different countries raise awareness each year about the risks of the disease.

The World Health Organization has chosen the slogan "Know Your Case" for the 30th anniversary of the event, while the United Nations says the number of people infected with AIDS since its discovery in 1988, until 2017, it stood at 38.5 million people.

In Libya, it is impossible to determine the actual number of people infected with AIDS, particularly because of the policy of opacity and the continued exclusion of those who are infected with it, which leads to the silence of the victim and his withdrawal from society awaiting death.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization had previously warned of a general collapse of medical services in Libya, due to lack of HIV drugs due to economic and political conditions, according to latest figures from the Center. national control of diseases, or 5929 patients.

The entry of a large number of migrants with HIV, drugs and unprotected sex is the main cause of the spread of the disease in Libya, as well as insufficient awareness and the predominant culture in Libyan society with regard to the treatment of the wounded.
