Recent studies suggest that a vegetarian diet can help prevent mental health problems.

Research conducted in 11 clinical trials has shown that herbal diets can improve mood, lose weight and reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes.

Experts from the University of London have discovered that "the symptoms of mental depression have dropped significantly among the groups covered by the study," according to the British newspaper Mirror.

"We can conclude that vegetarian diets significantly improve mental health," said lead author Anastosius Tumbanki.

The results show that those who follow the plant diets in six different trials are able to reduce or stop taking diabetes medications and manage to lose twice as much weight as others.

"This success is due to the tendency of the vegetarian diet to be low in calories and fat," said Dr. Katarina Kos, Diabetes Expert at Exeter University.
