According to a patent recently discovered by LetsGoDigital, Samsung seems to have acquired a patent for a smartphone with a frameless screen.
In the picture above, Samsung seems to have imagined a smart phone in which the screen folds around the edges of the smartphone, which technically removes the frame that normally surrounds the screen.
The top and bottom of the phone are not finished, giving the illusion that the phone's screen has no frame at all.
The patent also states that the side screen will also serve as a frame for the device, which means that there will be no metal frame around the device, which is a commonly used design. Of course, we doubt that this is true or not in theory, but as it is not a real product, we think that this design will pose a problem to Samsung's engineers in the future.
What's interesting about this patent is that it looks like somehow the culmination of Samsung's work in the past.
For example, the Galaxy SSeries and Galaxy Note series have in recent years adopted a curved design on both sides of the phone.
At the same time, the company has also unveiled some of its ideas for the screens that will be used in its future smartphones: instead of cutting, it can use small holes for the front camera and other essential sensors, allowing the camera to screen to extend to the edge of the phone.
