A recent study in the United States found that daily consumption of bananas helps the human body prevent strokes and fatal heart attacks.
The researchers explained that the potassium contained in a large amount of banana rids the arteries of harmful deposits that accumulate over time, according to the British newspaper The Independent.
Researchers from the University of Alabama conducted their study on this famous fruit from a sample of mice at high risk of heart attack.
The results showed that mice with low potassium levels had arterial problems, while mice with higher potassium content were healthier.
Rats with high potassium did not have hardening of the arteries or severe heart problems.
Despite the importance of bananas, experts warn that the proliferation of these fruits can lead to stomach pain, as well as diarrhea and nausea.
The British Public Health Service recommends consuming 3,500 milligrams of potassium per day, but two bananas make up only a quarter of that rate.
