NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Daily consumption of bananas helps protect the human body from strokes and fatal heart attacks, according to a recent medical study in the United States.
The researchers explained that the potassium contained in a large amount of banana eliminates arteries harmful deposits that accumulate over time, according to the British newspaper The Independent.
Researchers from the University of Alabama conducted their study on this famous fruit from a sample of mice at high risk of heart attack.
The results showed that mice with low potassium levels had arterial problems, while mice with higher potassium content were healthier.
Rats with high potassium did not have hardening of the arteries or severe heart problems.
Despite the importance of bananas, experts warn that the proliferation of these fruits can lead to stomach pain, as well as diarrhea and nausea.
