A new report revealed that the lite version of the Facebook application had been downloaded more than a billion times, while the social networking giant had more than 2 billion users, representing a major advance of the world's most famous social network.
Facebook Lite consumes less space and requires less system configuration than the main Facebook application: the Lite version is only 1.28 MB, compared to 67 MB for the large version.
The lite version is common in developing markets where fewer users have access to advanced electronics, but it is also suitable for people who want only basic functions of Facebook. The main application for Facebook was the first application on a non Google Android version, a facility almost five years ago, Messenger joined the following year.
