FIFA plans to increase number of teams in Qatar World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that FIFA will consider increasing the number of teams participating in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to 48.

"We will meet with Qatari officials to discuss the idea of ​​bringing the number of national teams participating in the World Cup to 48. The decision will be taken in March," he said on Thursday. A press conference in Doha.

"We are committed not to increase the number of days of the World Cup in 2022 to avoid any additional pressure on players and teams.The transfer of the tournament in November and December will not represent any additional pressure" said the FIFA president.

"FIFA has become a new institution that fears no discussion," said Infante. "If the 2022 World Cup were to compete in 32 teams, we would have an exceptional experience, like the World Cup."

FIFA President Mondial added that 2022 would be a chance for the world to come and learn about the Arab world.
