This is the second time in a row that Mohamed Salah is crowned African player of the year by the BBC after being crowned last year.
Mohamed Salah defeated Senegalese Calido Coulibaly, Italian club Napoli, Moroccan defender Mehdi Ben Attia, Juventus, Sadio Mani of Senegal and Liverpool of England, Thomas Barty of Ghana and Atletico Madrid of 39, Spain for the trophy.
The African player's trophy of the year is the second most important award of the African continent after the Africa Cup of Confederations of Football (CA), which will be awarded to the best player of the Senegalese capital, Dakar, in January.
