NASA has released the first image of Sylvie captured by the probe, Insight, from the surface of Mars.
The spacecraft used its robotic arm to capture the image in 11 mosaics, the agency said on its website.
NASA has adopted this method to capture many overlapping images and then assemble them into a single image. In the new silphic form appear the solar panel, the whole surface of the vehicle and the scientific instruments which are attached to it.
The crew, following the probe's work, provided a first comprehensive overview of Insight's approximately 4-by-2-meter, crescent-shaped workplace right in front of the probe. The image is also a mosaic of 52 partial image.
In the coming weeks, scientists and engineers will begin a complex phase of work to make decisions about the exact location of the scientific instruments, and then control the robotic arm of the probe with a seismograph and a thermal flow meter. Rocks larger than 1.3 cm.
