A Briton was sentenced to three years in prison after being deprived of her husband, family and even the public up to £ 250,000 over four years.
Jasmine Mestre, 36, from the British city of Loughborough, said she had cancer and told her husband that she only had six months to live.
Mestre said that she had to seek treatment in the United States. But she spent the money she received in luxury clothes, objects and handbags.
The woman was sentenced Friday in a court in Sainsbrook, north-east London, after confessing to falsify false statements on October 24.
The police estimated that the total amount seized by the woman from this fraud amounted to £ 253,122, taken from 20 members of Mestre's extended family and from eight other people who had received money.
Mestre first announced to her husband, Vijay Katicia, 40, that she had cancer in 2013, using a different SIM chip to send fake messages via the Watsab app, claiming to be a doctor confirming the diagnosis to support his request.
She used more counterfeit messages from someone that she claimed to be her doctor and told her in letters that she could be treated in the United States. But his treatment cost about £ 500,000.
Doubts were raised about the story when her husband's boyfriend found his brain on Google.
Her husband, who is now free, found her fake smart phone in which she sent messages from ghost doctors. When she was confronted, she admitted that she had lied.
The women were able to deceive two men via the Internet. One of them paid 66,000 pounds after she was inspired to suffer from cancer and to get her out of the hospital. After receiving the money, I sent her a letter from a fictional person that she had died. The second man gave him 7,000 and 500 pounds. She also received 10,000 books from the public after claiming to be a trader and informing them that she could invest them.
Mestre was arrested in November 2017 after contacting the police. When the police announced her arrest, she informed the police that she was not ill at the last stage and did not know why she had lied.
